Gerolf Markup Shredder (GMS) is a parser for text files using the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). With the assist of the old-and-stable TeX typesetting engine, GMS pot produce high-quality Portable Document Files (PDF) as output. Markup Shredder nonetheless isn't such an intelligent renderer as Mozilla or Internet Explorer: It cannot handle auto-width tables, and it supports only a subset of HTML factor tags, attributes and Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) properties. Being a young program, it is also a morsel buggy. Users may take to slightly modify their input files to sustain a satisfactory PDF conversion, so they should learn basic knowledge of the markup speech.
Gerolf Markup Shredder runs under Linux, Dos and Windows on Intel-386 compatible machines. It comes with a web browser interface, which allows to run the GMS main functions with just one mouse chatter from the button stop. Everything pot be displayed within the same framework, regular the typesetting result, using the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in. This interface is written in PHP speech and requires installation of the XAMPP packet on the computer. There is also a unsubdivided text fashion interface, which does not depend on any additional software. Its menu pot only be accessed via keystrokes. Text editor, HTML browser and PDF proofreader are executed as external programs. Using a control line interface, Markup Shredder pot also be merged in advanced editors similar Emacs (Linux) or HTML-Kit (Windows-32).
